AI Foundations - lesson 1
What AI actually is, in plain terms
Strip away the hype and you are left with something you can reason about.
What you will take away:
- Modern AI is a prediction engine, not a thinking machine. It produces the most likely next piece of text, image or sound based on patterns it has seen.
- It has no memory of you between sessions unless a product deliberately gives it one, and no understanding of truth.
- Its usefulness comes from speed and breadth, not from correctness. You supply the judgement.
- The gap between people who use AI well and badly is almost never technical. It is how clearly they can describe what they want.
